Pre-Session information for first-time in person NeuroDynamic breathwork
We will cover the theory behind breathwork, the principles that make it work and how to prepare yourself to get the best from your session.
Neurodynamic breathwork uses the breath and evocative music as tools to access an expanded state of consciousness. Using this breathing technique our analytical / chit chat mind is quieted which provides the opportunity for connection with our core being or inner guiding intelligence, you may also be familiar with this as inner wisdom, the Self, inner healer, higher self.
This is the same inner guiding intelligence that allows our bodies to take care of our internal processes every second of every day to keep us alive. Typically we do not have a conscious connection to this part of ourselves. A regular breathwork practice trains the mind to be able to access on a more consistent basis this inner wisdom, bringing with it greater self awareness, presence, expanding our perception of ourselves and the world around us.
Within an expanded state of consciousness our inner wisdom often brings to surface consciousness past experiences that have created emotional, energetic and psychological blocks.
Principles of NeuroDynamic breathwork
We all have an innate drive towards wholeness. In the same way your body can heal a cut on your finger, your psyche can process trauma, emotional and psychological blocks that may be impeding your move towards wholeness and restoring personal power. Breathwork is a modality of trust and surrender, but not to anybody else - to yourself.
Throughout our lives we suppress much emotional energy into our bodies. Typically breathwork is an opportunity for this energy to begin to release, let it be as big as it wants to be, do not try to further suppress emotions or judge what is coming up. There are no good/bad, positive/negative emotions. Emotions are signals from the body that something needs to be recognised. What may be considered a challenging experience often leads to the most powerful personal growth.
In Neurodynamic breathwork we recommend letting go of agendas and expectations of what your journey will look like. Let yourself be guided by your inner intelligence to provide what you need in the moment.
A regular breathwork practice strengthens the neural pathways that relaxes our thinking mind and directs our attention inward toward the stream of remote associations emanating from the right hemisphere of our brain.
TWO GREATEST FEARS that may be experienced
Too much will happen
Trust your inner intelligence will only bring up what is ready to be processed.
it is generally suggested to allow feelings and emotions to be as big as they need to be and let them process through to release, that said if you ever feel unsafe, you should bring it to the attention of the facilitator.
You can lower the intensity of the experience and/or drop out of the process in a relatively short period of time by slowing down the breath to a normal rhythm. In breathwork, safety always comes first.
Nothing will happen
When you are using this breathwork technique something is always happening physiological.
Quite often a strong association with our analytical left brain creates defences and resistance to a deeper process. Breathwork is a practice, through regular practice we train the mind that it is safe to relax and let go.
You will generally know when you are on your inner journey as the chit chat mind quietens down, there is a sense of calm presence, thoughts and memories surface without your active participation reflecting a shift in consciousness.
If you still have a busy chit chat mind and a sense that nothing is happening, lean into the feeling that is arising around that —likely frustration. Allow it to intensify, express it fully, and let any sounds emerge naturally. Trust the process!

Breathing Technique
Preparing for your in person session
- Do not have a big meal in the hours before breathing. It is more difficult to drop into an expanded state of awareness if your stomach is full and all of your internal energy is focused on digestion
- Bottle of water, closed top to avoid spillages
- Lip balm as lips can get dry breathing through your mouth
- Loose comfortable clothing
- Mats, Blindfolds & Blankets will available for you to use, feel free to bring your own should you prefer or for extra comfort.
- Bring a journal & pen
- Open heart & curious mind ❤️
